Every car collects a history of smells. A few months of commuting with coffee, one summer with the dog in the back seat, a friend who smokes with the window cracked. Air fresheners cover it for a day. The smell comes back because it never left: it is in the seats, the carpet and the ventilation.
Where the odor actually lives
Fabric and foam are sponges. Cigarette smoke, cannabis and cooking oils settle in them as a thin film. The ventilation system is the other hiding place: every time you switch the fan on, you push air over whatever has accumulated in the ducts. Cleaning the dashboard changes nothing about either.
The usual suspects
- Cigarette smoke. The most stubborn one. It clings to the headliner and the seat belts as much as to the seats.
- Cannabis. Similar to tobacco smoke, with its own sharp note that is easy to recognize for anyone who gets into the car.
- Food. Takeout bags, spilled coffee, a forgotten lunch under the seat.
- Pets. Fur, dander and the smell of a wet dog after a walk, concentrated in the back seat and trunk.
- Stale interiors. A car that stood closed for weeks, or an older car with a musty cabin.
- Everyday odors. Gym bags, kids, the general "lived-in" smell that owners stop noticing and passengers do not.
What a dry fog treatment does
A GoFresh treatment fills the entire cabin with a fine, dry fog carrying the fragrance you chose. Because it is airborne, it reaches upholstery, carpets, vents and the other hard-to-reach places on its own. It helps neutralize unpleasant odors, including stubborn ones like smoke, and freshens the cabin. It leaves no wet marks, so there is nothing to dry or wipe.
How often
That depends on the car and the owner. Many drivers do a treatment after a specific event: a trip with the dog, a smoky weekend, a used car they just bought. Others fold it into their regular wash. At about ten minutes and self-service, it is easy to repeat whenever the cabin needs it.
